How to approach the reading section?

Hey guys. I have been having trouble in the reading section all 3 times Ive taken the test. My highest score has been a 24. I was wondering if you have any advice on how to approach it? I am one of those people who read slowly but remember everything so when I skim and read fast, I dont remember anything. And does skipping to the questions like on the science passage work as well?

Thanks

Not trying to advertise but look at page 5 of my thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/1358000-goldenmonkeysats-36-act-plan-journal-5.html

I jumped from a 27 to a 32 on the Reading section using a few tips. On that page I have detailed explanation of how I did it.

Skip the prose passage (the first one). Then read the other passages at a speed where you can comprehend what the “general idea” of the passage is. Scan the questions for any that have line references, and do those first. Do the inference questions last. After you’re done with passages two, three, and four, return to the prose passage and try to attempt it with whatever time you have left. Guess on all the questions that you’re clueless about.

On my first try, I got a 24 on the reading. After practicing on a lot, I was able to get a 29 on the reading. I still don’t know how people get a 36 on it though.

upon reviewing my previous sub scores in reading, I have noticed that out of the social studies/science vs the arts/literature, the social studies/science (15 was my highest) tends to be higher while the other tends to be way lower (08 was my lowest). I dont know why or if this will help anybody giving me tips.
