How to ask a collehe for more scholarship/grant money?

So I applied to 5 schools and got accepted for all 5, some offer more scholarship that others. If I prefer a school that offers less scholarship, is it okay to ask them for more $$$$? even if the college already offered me a 10k scholarship? If so should I call/email?
anyone did this before?

Yes you can ask for more $. Some schools have policies which won’t allow them to modify the offer, others do. If you have a better FA offer from a peer school you have a better chance of a change. I would call.

Are your stats very high for that school? What school is this? What is your Math + CR score or ACT score?

Schools know that you can get larger merit from lower ranked schools, so what schools did you get merit from and how much were you given?

I can’t hurt. Call or have your parents call (IMO it’s OK for parents to participate in this part of the process) and ask for a ‘review’ of your FA/merit aid. Mention that you have a more generous offer at another school and that you are willing to share the offer with them.

Many things will affect whether or not they will increase their offer: need based FA vs. merit scholarship, college policy, level of the schools (colleges are more likely to match a peer or higher school).

If you read “How to pay for college without going broke” by Princeton Review, they have a variety of scenerios with scripts and procedures for doing just what you’re asking, as well as other reasons why you might interact with the FA department. For example, I applied to 4 other similarly regarded schools just so I could compare the FA packages to the one school I really want to attend. When I get my FA from this school, I can negotiate by comparing the packages I’ve recieved. I highly suggest purchasing this book as it gives a lot of really great advice and guidance.
