How to ask for more Financial Aid?

I got accepted into an early college, and I am currently waiting for my financial aid package to arrive in the course of this week. However, I'm afraid that they won't give enough aid. If this happens, how do I ask for more? If I send a letter requesting more, how do AI say so in such a way they don't feel obliged, but remember that they want me there? I will be the first person from my country to attend if I go, if that helps. They will consider me for the scholarships they have, and I'm considering also applying for private scholarships.

Any advice is welcome!

Any help would be greatly appreciated…

Why don’t you ask after you get the package if there is a problem and how large the gap is. You don’t have any leverage if you don’t have competing offers. They may have a formula and there might not be any possibility of deviation. When you do ask it has to be put delicately and politely. If you need money I don’t see why you are not busy applying for private scholarships.

I got the package, and I am applying for scholarships right now. The amount wasn’t enough.

How much more do you need? Is this need based money or merit money or a combination?

Ask your school for more.
