D has a full ride to one school but wants to attend another. Any options for talking to the first choice school? Who should she call/email? They were generous so she is worried about sounding greedy. Thoughts?
Is this a merit award or a need based one?
If merit…does the school have set criteria for awarding soecific merit amounts? Has your daughter done anything since her application that would show an I orovement in her application materials?
If need based, has anything changed?
If this is a need based award, your daughter should contact the financial aid office. She should politely say that this school is her number one choice but she has other offers that are more affordable. Ask if they will discuss her need based award.
If merit, call the admissions office. Same comment. This is her number one school but others are more affordable. Ask if there is a chance her merit award could be increased.
Some schools will reconsider their awards and some simply will not.
Are these “peer schools”? If not, then the other school may not care that your D got a free ride elsewhere. Schools know that free rides can be found at “lower” schools.
But, if this is a peer school, AND the school has the funds, then may be they would increase.
