What is my UC GPA? How do I calculate it?

As for art class, I know UCs require at least one....

Is there a way to get rid of Hist Motion Pic with the grade I get from Drama/Theater?

Thanks..

3.2 three point two

YA10: not sure of your math - just looking at the record... ~50% A's = 3.5. UC does not count plusses and minuses.

Soph Year (ignore PE/bowling):

8 A's = 32 grade points
7 B's = 21 grade points

Junior Year:

6 A's = 24 points
7 B's = 21 points

Plus 8 bonus points for AP/IB courses = 106 total points. Divide by 28 = 3.79 UC gpa. No, you cannot replace your summer course since UC only looks at Soph & Jr grades.

nice job man. your GPA isnt the highest but your strength of schedule is outstanding

wow 3.79...not as high as i expected it to be.. :(

for UCSD..i see that their avg gpa is 4.05.. is that UC GPA or high school weighted? if so, i'm so screwed.. :(

another thing..

do colleges look at your high school at all?

say i'm attending at hs that's well known in my community..btw i'm in CA..

will this help at all for my UC admission?

anyone......?

I doubt it will help at the UCs since they're VERY number-based.

ok..

so when they say UCSD has an avg GPA of 4.05..

is that UC GPA?

Uc gpa is somewhat based on weighted gpa. you include extra grade point for ap/Ib course and 11th grade honors courses. However, you cannot add extra grade point for 10th grade honors courses. I don't think business management counts as an uc approved course, so that shouldn't be in your uc gpa. My guess is that your uc gpa is somewhere above 4.0, which means you should be competitive for uc san diego, or ucla

kevin: some Soph honors courses will count for the bonus point; for example, honors precalc taken Soph year would count.....good point about biz management -- would have to look it up on pathways to see if its a UC approved elective. AP courses taken Soph year also count for the bonus point.

No chance at Berkeley or UCLA unless you scored uber high on SATs and/or very good ECs considering you have tons of Bs, which is a no-no... especially for the number-based UCs...

it's never 0% chance...

Question: Suppose you got a 2.8 during sophomore year, but you got a 4.0 all throughout junior year. According to the UC GPA calculation, you would still be eligible for admissions, correct?

yes, since sophomore and junior grades are used

ok it seems like UC requires at least 1 year of art credit..

i'm taking theater 1 as a senior to fulfill that requirement..

when they are a-g...will they only include classes from sopho-junior years?

so if you don't take any art classes during your sopho-junior years...you can't enter UCs at all?...-_-

PS: not looking into UCLA or UCB...i'm hoping for UCSD...
EC shouldn't be a problem..
SAT is above 2000...

gala;

NO -- you just have to complete the a-g requirements prior to matriculation at a UC, so taking the requirements senior year is fine.

Business Management is not considered as honors according to UC..

What's my UC GPA now?

If I want to apply for UCSD, do I have a shot?

anyone?? help~~~

sorry, my previous post was mathematically-challenged.

If both biz management and the summer school art class count as UC-electives:

Soph Year (15 semesters, including summer art class, but excluding PE/bowling):

7 A's = 28 grade points
8 B's = 24 grade points

Junior Year (12 semesters, includig biz management):

6 A's = 24 points
6 B's = 18 points

Plus 8 bonus points for AP/IB courses = 102 total points. Divide by 27 semesters = 3.777 UC gpa.

If biz management is not a UC-approved elective, then it comes out of both the numerator and denominator:

102 grade points less 3 (1 B) = 99 total grade points. Divide by 26 semesters = 3.807 UC gpa.

If bot the biz management class AND the summer school art class are not a UC-approved electives...

96/25 = 3.84 UC gpa.

Good luck.
