Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble figuring out how cumulative GPA is calculated.
My school is on a 5.0 weighted system ( so in AP classes As are 5, honor 4.5, regular 4)
If I know my freshman, sophomore, and junior cumulative GPA and want to know how my senior GPA will effect my cumulative GPA do I just take the average?
EX.) old cumulative GPA: 4.3 and senior GPA is 5.0, is my new cumulative GPA (5+4.3)/ 2?
or would i need to take into account the amount of credits?
Thanks!
To find your new cumulative weighted GPA, add all four weighted GPAs together and find the average (divide by four).
So taking 5 ap classes sr yr, my gpa would be the same as taking 6 ap classes sr year (assuming i get 5.0s)?
Well if you’re taking 5 ap classes senior year, that means you’ll also be taking 1 regular class right? For my school that would be a maximum of 4.83 while all 6 ap classes would be a 5.0 GPA with all As.
I would be taking a elective as pass/ fail which wouldn’t factor into my GPA
so both options would be 5.0 max
That only works if the number of credits each year is exactly the same.
@skieurope oh really? :o oops how is it done then?
@joyce1517 You would need to add up the total number of grade points earned over the period of time in question, and then divide by total # of credits earned. Here is an example.
