How to calculate SSAT scaled scores

Hi guys, need some help. I have my raw score(not out of 800) but i don’t know how to calculate the scaled scores: any advice or help?

The percentages come with the scores. You don’t have to calculate yourself, it should be right on your results page.

@one1ofeach oh sorry-I meant practice tests- how can i convert it? Is there a way?

Cannot help with that, there is no public conversion chart. You can google it and get charts but those are based on old info.

Do you know someone who has taken it already? You can compare scores and at least know if your percentile is approximately higher or lower.

@one1ofeach sadly no. I guess I’ll just wait for my test in 2 weeks. I might retake it if it doesn’t go as planned- should get around an 85. The other post I made was percent correct-I didn’t know about scoring at the time.

I was just trying to figure this out last night. I think that scores yield different percentiles in different years, perhaps at every test. None of the books we have even have a point chart, just answers. The print official study guide has a page converting raw scores to scaled scores. Some old stat threads have scaled scores instead of percentile.

Some example scores were v40 equals 740, v30 692. Q40 764 Q30 716, R35 746 r30 710. Recall that wrong answers deduct 1/4 point. Based on reported score that few years it seemed that about 2500 was about a 90 percentile. I think percentiles vary by gender.

If anyone wants to share or correct this understand, please do!

This is helpful. I think you may have meant “2200 was about a 90 percentile”.

@TripleCrown33 Are there any full length practice tests online that do score scaling?

I had it in mind that it was higher than a 2200 but it may not be as high as 2500. Only some scores had both percentile and scaled score listed.

We couldn’t get the Official practice tests to grade for ages over the weekend and I’m still not sure if I am getting all the data I’m supposed to. At the moment we only have raw score, no scaled score, no percentile. The explanation about why a question was wrong was helpful.

@lilyesh I will PM you.

I think it is 2200 that was about 90%. My kids got a bit above a 2200 and got a 93% and a 98%. BUT this was a while ago.

@one1ofeach on the practices i’ve been getting around 700 on each section…any translations?

Thank you. Very helpful.

This is old but still pretty accurate: http://www.sanlieducation.com.hk/tag/ssat-percentile-chart-8th-grade/
