I understand the process, however I am confused on which grades to count. My HS grades per semester, and for some of my classes I recieved different grades in each semester (e.g. a B for first semester and an A for the second). So do I convert both grades into points or do I just count one semester or what? AFAIK there's no way to average the two-the percentages are long forgotten and not archived.

Use each semester grade. Don’t average them. If you had 7 A-G classes 10th grade and 7 A-G classes 11th grade, you will have 28 semester grades. Just as a reminder:

UC GPA:
-10th and 11th grade ONLY
-Academic, UC-approved A-G courses only
-1 extra GPA pt for **up to **eight semesters of AP or IB courses and **UC-Approved honors courses /I

*UC-approved honors courses: Out of state students do NOT, ever, receive GPA weight for honors courses - only for AP/IB courses. **For in-state, *the honors course MUST appear on the UC Doorways approved course listing *for that high school as an honors course, or it is not awarded an extra point. It does not matter what your high school calls it or that they weight it, if it is not on Doorways as an approved honors course, it is not given extra weight. Really.
Here’s a cool site, and a cool calculator. Note there are no pluses and minuses either.

[CaliforniaColleges.edu - Calculating Your GPA](http://www.californiacolleges.edu/admissions/california-state-university-csu/gpa_calculator.asp)

It has a “high school planner” which interfaces with the CSU mentor “high school planner” .

<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

You can create an account, enter grades as you go, store them, know when you have or will satisfy CSU requirements AND from the CaliforniaColleges.edu site you can…( drum roll please, …since this is CC and all) switch to the “UC view”. If you are a mere mortal, and are applying to CSU’s, I believe you are almost done once the application period opens.

This guy explains how to calculate the UC gpa very well.
