How to calculate UC weighted GPA

I had two honors and one AP soph year, and three honors and two APS junior year. Total seven classes soph year, and total six classes junior year.

I had all A's in these classes and calculated my UC GPA was 4.5 something. But this website (GPA Calculator (UC) » RogerHub) says it is 4.31. Can someone help me out?

Each semester is counted as a class, so you had 26 classes total, and 16 classes that would receive a weighted grade. But UC limits the number of weighted classes to 8. So the boost from weighted grades would be 8/26 = .31.

The UC system is a little backwards, because the greater the number of classes you take, the lower is your weighted GPA.

So the cap of 8 classes includes honors classes AND AP classes?!?

Yes - but, note not all Honors courses get the bonus. You’ve got to look up your school here:

to see which courses get the extra credit.
