University of Florida is a school I will pretty much do anything to get into and I am just curious how I can calculate my GPA so that I will know what these admissions people are seeing. My school told me it was a 4.5 but I think some of that is due to grade inflation. Thanks
First, drop the plusses and minuses (for example, a B+ and a B- are both counted as B). Then use this scale: A is 4 points; B is 3 points; C is 2 points; D is 1 point. Add a half-point for each honors grande (for example, an honors B is 3.5) and a full point for each AP grade (for example, an AP B counts as 4). The only thing I am not clear on is whether they use semester grades or end-of-the-year grades (definitely not quarter grades). No one has been able to answer that question for me, but I suspect it’s end-of-the-year grades as reported on the SSAR.
It depends on your high school - if the courses are listed in semester grades on a transcript then that is what is used - or final grade if that is how the transcript lists them. Also - only academic courses - Math, English, Science, Social Science, Foreign Language, (all AP, IB, AICE, academic dual enrollment classes).
