So I have an interview with a college this Sunday but I already got accepted to another college ED. Should I cancel this interview? If I have submitted transcripts to some colleges but not apps do I still need to do anything to cancel those transcripts? Also, I have been absent at school for about 5 days this term (illnesses and field trip). Would this be a reason for a warning to be issued about my academic performance?
Call or send a brief email to each admissions office thanking them for their consideration and explaining that you are withdrawing your application due to your ED acceptance elsewhere (or you can name the ED school). No need to waste anyone’s time with an interview this Sunday. If you have submitted only transcripts but not apps, your app status will be incomplete, so you wouldn’t be admitted anyway.
Five days’ absence for illness and field trip should be counted as excused. I wouldn’t worry.
Assuming that you have seen you FA package at the ED school (or didn’t apply for FA) and the FA package is satisfactory (you are not appealing it), then I would cancel the interview. You don’t have to give a reason, just tell your interviewer you need to cancel and don’t need to reschedule. Then notify the admissions offices at all your schools via email that you are withdrawing your application.
If you have NOT seen your FA package or are appealing it, then go through with the interview. You do not need to mention the ED acceptance in that case; you want to keep going forward with other schools until you know this one is affordable.
