Hey, so my teacher wrote a rec for my early action school. In it, he stated that that school is my first choice. But the problem is, he says he can't change the rec anymore for my regular schools. I'm sure there is a way. Does anyone know how?

Please, anyone?

Talk to your guidance counselor. Teachers are often well-meaning, but may also write some info that could be a bit inappropriate, and stating that the EA school is your first choice seems to be in that category. I am a teacher, and we are told to write only about students' performance in our classes, perhaps including some anecdotes, but certainly not about school choices. These letters need to go to several schools. So, maybe your GC can help the teacher edit the letter for future schools. It shouldn't really need too much editing.

contact common app asap by email. a similar thing happened to me, one of my teachers did my EA recs online, and all those online recs get sent to every single college you add on the Common App and you can't delete them yourself. common app has to do it for you.

I think it's a glitch in the system, since this is the first year school forms can be done online (at least that's what my counselor told me). it's not fair since if you do paper recs, you can pick and choose and teachers can change up your recs or you can ask different teachers. so yeah, i emailed the common app ppl, they were actually super helpful, they deleted my unwanted online teacher's rec and now i'm free to send other teacher recs to my other colleges. haha and they even responded to me like an hour after i sent them an email, and it was on a sunday!

but i'm doing them all by paper this time, don't want to take more chances.

i'm just a little worried that many of my schools might already have downloaded the online teacher form before it got deleted. oh well, we'll see.

hannahmontana, I have the same problem that you had, except my teacher wrote a recommendation that alluded to a very specific major that only a specific school has, so now I want to get that recommendation changed for other schools.

how did you ask common app to fix your problem? what exactly did you ask? did you submit a ticket through the help desk thing? how long did it take for them to fix it for you? because I submitted a ticket to common app's help desk and eventually I got an answer saying that they would fix it and let me know– but that was days ago, hardly the rapid solution you seem to have gotten.

You can remove the school from My Colleges and re-add it. It should free up the teacher form selections :)
