How to check GPA?

Is there a way to check my GPA for my first semester? I thought maybe I could do it through Bear Facts (the way I checked my grades), but I don't see it. I also don't know how to calculate it because Berkeley does the weird + and - thing.

Grades are 0,1,2,3,4 for F, D, C, B, A

Add .3 for a +
Subtract .3 for a -

E.G. - B- is 2.7, C+ is 2.3, A- is 3.7, B is 3.0

Add up the points for all the graded courses you took.

Separately add up the units for all the graded courses you took

Divide the first sum by the second sum.

It will be visible in a few more weeks when the semester grades are all finalized and move over to the cumulate - all grades - section of bearfacts.

Grades should be posted on your unofficial transcript on Bearfacts (along with GPA) on Jan. 9th.

Suppose I got B+ in a 4 unit class, A- in a 3 unit class, and an A in another 3 unit class. Since rider730 kindly mentioned add 0.3 for + and subtract 0.3 for -, my GPA becomes

(3.34 + 3.73 + 4.0*3) / (4+3+3) = 3.68

Tell me if you still don’t get it.
You can tell the 4-unit class has a higher impact on my GPA.

I usually just use this [GPA Calculator](http://academicservices.berkeley.edu/advising/gpa/)

take the weighted average w.r.t to units, according to this grading scheme [Academic Probation-GPA](http://ls-probation.berkeley.edu/gpa.html)

Oh, thanks so much, everyone who answered
Yup, I figured my GPA out with a by-hand calculation and then used Berkeley’s GPA calculator to make sure.
So, does an A+ count as a 4.3? Because if so, could someone “fix” their GPA by getting A+'s, in hopes that the 4.3’s and the previously low GPA would “cancel out” to produce something close to a 4.0? A Berkeley freshman can only dream…

A+ = 4.0 (no bonus for the +)

Cal exists to crush freshmen dreams - no .3 for A+, sorry

If you go to Cornell, an A+ counts as a 4.3… Ivy grade inflation right there

^ our best friends from the farm also follow a 4.3 grading scale.

Wow. That’s really messed up. Berkeley is REALLY good at crushing all sorts of dreams, lol.

They really give an extra .3 for an A+?? Damn. :’(

Are the differences in gpa calculation noted in grad school apps? -__-

^idk, i just know that if you’re applying for law school they treat our A+'s as 4.3’s.
