how to check status

Posting for my D, she is able to get into her Pitt. Connect but is not clear where to go to check the status of her application. Oh wise folks on CC can you help. Thanks so much.

If you would like to check your status, go to the Freshmen Application log-in page and log-in from there. It displays your status on the application page itself.
As for Pitt Connect, I tried logging in from my.pitt.edu and it didn’t work for me. You could go to the “Check Application Status” link, given on the Freshmen Admission Information page on the OAFA site, login and see a list of all documents received/required. I am not aware of any other way to check the status other than e-mailing OAFA.

Funnily, on my application page the status is still coming up as “Submitted”. The letter my parents received, notifying me of my acceptance, was dated the 9th of October. So I’m beginning to wonder if they ever update that status.

Though I highly doubt it, perhaps there is a secret third place where you can check your status/application details (or at my.pitt.edu)?

Their applicant IT system stays a mess…lol and it is worse than when S. applied and was accepted in 2010.

D. was accepted on September 24, 2013; we received the snail mail on the 27th and a day later, her “submitted” items page said at the top “Congratulations!!” etc etc. Two days later it went back to “submitted” items. And it’s been inaccurate since.

Please also note that the recommendations received list may be inaccurate. D. found that out the hard way–resending and bugging teachers only to discover that all three were already up in the Admissions Office.

The BEST way to check your status if you are concerned is to either email your assigned admissions counselor (check your first applicant email from Pitt–the counselors are listed and assigned to you alphabetically) or CALL the admissions office directly. We have had partial success emailing the assigned counselor. S’s counselor usually responds but in no less than 5-7 business days thusfar. So, call if it you cannot access the system or if you need to check on something important-i.e.,–your recommendations, etc. They can pull up your file.

Does applying my the Prestige app change any of this? No website seems to be working.

She will get a letter in the mail before her status is changed online (at least that is what happened with me). I applied through prestige and heard about just over two weeks after I sent the last part of my application…

My daughter was accepted first week in August and hers still says ‘Submitted’ and she’s received 2 other letters and 1 call since then re: congratulations and other info. She emailed the OoA and counselor twice but no response. We figure they’re busy.

C-A-L-L the Admissions Office. And no Prestige Application does not change what everyone is suggesting.

We are in the throes of 10 school apps here with D. and not a single school’s “portal” or “status application page” is accurate. Everyone is always behind. And often the systems are down, sloppy, or cumbersome. Absolute fail as far as technology is concerned–same for the Common App site…

So like we’ve said …C-A-L-L.
