Hi, everyone! I just received all my admission result today. I get accepted by Berklee, Calarts, CCM, BOCO and NEC. My major is BM composition.

I really appreciate if someone can give me some advice and let me know more about those schools. I focus on contemporary classical music, also I have a great interest in electronic music. I am looking for good faculty, lots of opportunities and comprehensive training.

Currently, I prefer CCM. Cause I heard they have one of the best electronic program and also I consider the financial reason.

So any advice just post in this Thread. Thanks!

All are fine schools. Go where you will incur the least amount of financial burden, either out of pocket now or future loan paybacks. It makes no sense at all to take on huge debt.

If your interest is primarily classical electronic or electroacoustic composition I would choose CalArts which is famous for that - if you can afford it. I have never heard about electronic music at your other choices, but that has been a focus at CalArts since its inception.

SpiritManager - Thanks! My interest in classical music is as well as my interest in electronic. So I would like to choose a school which is good at both. Also for BM, it’s important to get a comprehensive training. More performance opportunities are also what I am looking for.

I think in your heart you know where you want to go - and, all else being near equal - such as finances - you should go to CCM. I just looked up their computer music division and it does look strong.

^Having just recently read about their new production program as well, CCM sounds like a nice fit from both perspectives.
Do the finances make sense?
If so, go for it!
