How to Choose Which of the 5C’s

My DS17 is set on the Claremont Consortium for sure and will apply to all 4. However, he will be applying to one ED2 (his lifelong dream is Stanford so he’s using his SCEA golden ticket on Stanford). So, my question is how does he decide which of the CC to use his ED2 on? He is most partial to Pitzer for campus climate (he’s a liberal to the core) and Harvey Mudd for academic angle (He’s a math & Physics guy all the way). We’ve tried looking at housing to maybe help us narrow it down but he likes those both equally. And everything else is accesible to everyone at any of the 5C’s. We’ve visited (not touted) Harvey Mudd passing through and taken the virtual tour of the rest (our 5C Spring Break was a bust, so hoping for a Labor Day weekend 5C trip if they’re all open for tours by then).
Thanks!

For the study of mathematics and physics, HMC and Pomona would to represent your son’s best academic fits.

We toured both Pomona and Harvey Mudd a few years ago. Pomona touted its ability to get students into grad school. Harvey Mudd was more focused on getting students career ready. I’m a science person and I liked HMC a lot more. They seemed plenty liberal.

Given the interlocking campuses (and even combined teams for sports), wouldn’t the out-of-class social experience be a combination of all of them? Of course, anything related to classes will be biased toward one’s home college, although there is some cross registration.

Harvey Mudd is well known as a science and engineering focused school, but does have an extensive core curriculum that includes 11 humanities, social studies, and arts courses (including a distribution and a concentration).
