Hi, im a junior in high school and was wondering how to generally convert my gpa from 100 scale to 4.0. every online source has a different answer. I know each college and even high school is different but I see other posts on this site that all have it out of 4.0. I will have about an 88 unweighted, 93 weighted by the end of my junior year. Some places find this to be a 3.3 weighted, others say 4.0. Most online sources about college admissions have facts on 4.0, so its hard for me to find schools right for me. if it helps, I’ve taken 10 honors and 5 AP classes so far in my three years. thanks in advanced.
Talk to your guidance.counselor about this.
In general, you don’t. Unless a college specifically requests a conversion for application purposes, you would report your GPA on a 100 point scale, making sure it ties back to what your transcript says. For colleges that ask for a conversion, like UC’s, they will tell you how to convert.
If you’re doing it just for giggles, the link below is as good as any:

My daughter moved schools after her sophomore year. The first school was the US News #1 STEM public magnet school with a 0-100 grading system. We moved internationally for work, so the second was a German International School with an IB program that has a 0-7 grading system. We never knew what her 4.0 scale GPA was. Colleges admitted her anyway and gave her merit scholarships. The only glitch we had was our State Public U that had an automated system for scholarships based on self-reported data. An email to admissions cleared that up and she was also awarded merit.
My point is, don’t worry about it, the colleges figure it out.
