How to convert IB scores to GPA?

is the GPA kinda tough in the US?</p>

<p>for IB, achieving a 70-80% grade already gives you a 7, which is the top score in an individual IB subject. but if we were to convert the percentage of the subject to US GPAs, like >90% = A, >80% = B, >70% = C ,then does that mean that the US GPA system is a lot tougher compared to the IB grading system?</p>

<p>e.g.
I take: Physics Higher Level, and I get a 75%, which is a 7,
English A2 Standard Level, and I get a 85%, which is a 7,
and I also get 7 for every subject I take, however; in average for all subjects I just get 79% in percentage terms, does that mean that my US GPA is only a mere C+ or B-?</p>

<p>GPA is not a uniform number. I teach in an IB school and our school does not compute GPA. Colleges understand all of this, and they review applications according to the individual schools' profiles. So if you are a full IB diploma student, and you don't have a standard GPA, the colleges will know how to read the transcript.</p>

<p>Our school created our own scale. A 7 in a HL is worth a 5.0 and a 7 in a SL is worth a 4.67. It goes down from there. We don't convert percentages.</p>

<p>We have a similar system in our school, or maybe even exactly the same, a 7 is 5.0 in hls and a 6 in hl is 4.5 and so on.</p>

<p>I am having the same problem. I want to register on several online college counsellor websites but they ask my GPA first. </p>
