Hi all, I’m a highschool senior from Argentina and I was wondering how I could convert my grades to the US GPA scale. Ny average highschool percentage up to now is a 85% and according to the Collegeboard scale it would be a 3.0 but then according to another 4.3 scale it would be a 4.0. Could someone please explain to me how I could calculate my GPA and which GPA scale is the most common? Thank you
@MYOS1634 help?
You don’t.
You DO NOT convert numerically because numbers have a “meaning” or “symbolic value” that varies depending on the country.
Your guidance counselor should indicate what percentage students get each: top 1%, top 5%, top 10%, top 20%, top 30% at your school and in the country; if your school has grade deflation or inflation (ie., an 85 results in a 90 when students take a national exam: your school has grade deflation; an 85 results in a 75 when students take a national exam: your school has grade inflation).
