How to decline admission?

Hello, I got accepted to Berkeley but have chosen to go somewhere else. How do I decline the offer of admission? Thanks in advance for any help received.

I think you send in your Statement of Intent to Register with a big "NO" checked. Does the form seem to indicate that? "Myberkeleyapp.edu" or whatever should have some procedure on it.

I found it. Thanks. This means that I do not have to pay the SIR fee. Am I correct?

I think that you are correct.

is it a requirement to decline or could we just miss the sir deadline?

I think you could just miss it, I guess, but if you know you aren't going, might as well spend the two minutes to tell them "no."

Too bad I can't figure out my student ID for UCLA... I guess I'll have to just let it pass.

Oh crap I forgot to tell the other UCs, Cornell and NYU I'm not going.. Thanks for reminding me. It's just curtesy right? Not like required or anything. I can do UCs online, but I'm not sure of the other two..

yes, I think of it as a matter of courtesy.
