I apologize if this has already been asked... There are just SO many threads here! It's hard to wade through them all to find the information I'm looking for. If someone knows of a thread where this has already been discussed and it would be easier to direct me there than answering here, could someone direct me to it? Thanks.

Anyway, these are my questions.

I just got my housing assignment today... I am in Jester. The room number is W03xx. (The xx's taking the place of the last two digits so that I don't give my EXACT address to all the people on the internet.) That means I'm in Jester West, right? And what floor does that mean I am on?

Are there any significant differences between Jester West and Jester East? Is one of them better? Also, how bad are the community bathrooms? (I applied for connecting/private, but got community instead...) I've heard that there usually won't be anyone else in them when you're there, and if there is, it's NEVER so crowded that you have to wait. I've also heard that they're usually very clean. But, this sounds a little too good to be true. Any experience?

And, of course, the question on everyone's mind: Does it REALLY smell like p!ss? If so, can air fresheners/ Glade plugins/ etc. cover the smell up satisfactorily?

I don’t know. But I envy you for getting your room assignment when you were on the wait list. =[ Not to derail this thread, but when did you submit your contract? I just want to surmise where I am on the wait list.

You’re on the third floor in Jester West. all the restaurants are in Jester West. East is just rooms. the bathrooms are pretty clean since they are cleaned daily. the showers are pretty small though. I spend a couple nights in Jester west and east and I didn’t smell any odors. However that’s during the summer and not the school year. I’ve heard from many sources that there is a smell but I think residents would eventually get used to it and fail to smell it.

There’s a search engine on this thread called “Search this forum” that lets you type in key words. It’s right below the page navigator.

Hmm… well i dont want you to quote me, cuz im just an entering freshman lol but i think since jester has an east and west… the “W” is telling you your in the west building… and the first two numbers tell you your floor ( since jester has at least 10 floors) and the last few numbers tell your room number. example for me (I got lucky and got in San Jac.) mine is room 2XXX, so im on the second floor room XXX, but again im like 70% sure about this so you might wanna ask the housing offices, they get calls like this all the time… so dont feel like your the only one, and its always better to know before you get down there ya know
See ya in the fall!! im pretty excited…

HoustonLonghorn-- By “wait list”, do you mean the list of people who had asked to change their first housing assignment? Because I was never on that. I’m just barely now receiving my first housing assignment (I notice that this was quite a bit later than everyone else). I submitted my contract around the end of March. (Sorry if I misunderstood your question.)

Well, technically everybody is on a wait list right now due to the abundance of people applying for housing. If you sent yours out late March and just received your room today, then I’m screwed, lol.

My mistake. Anybody who hasn’t received their room assignment yet is on a wait list. Everybody received an email asking them whether they were still attending UT or not, and whether they were still living off campus or on campus, or else to cancel their contract.
