How to deflect "how old are you" questions?

Okay sorry, but when I was a little kid, I often asked adults about their age and they refused to disclose their ages (or they even lied). Is this acceptable practice around other people who aren’t kids?

Or in other words, isn’t it common for people not to disclose their age? Just like it’s common for people not to disclose their weight?

This has nothing to do with picking females up or anything. I’m not the only person uncomfortable with my own age - it seems like a lot of adults are uncomfortable about their ages too.

And I’m not up to anything, seriously. I just have severe ADD and Asperger’s. That’s all.

And about the way I used to deflect that question: it was just for fun. I only did it around people who seemed to enjoy it, really.
