How to dispute a grade?

First of all I am not sure if I am posting this thread in the right section, but I couldn't find a better place for it.
Anyways, I was wondering if there is any way to dispute a semester grade the teacher has given you? Where should you go? My sister is about to receive a C or a D in her math class. I am sure that she knows the subject well, because this summer she took the same exact class online through a reputable university. However, because our school is so horrible, she was placed again in the same exact math level this year. Not because she didn't know it (she got an A in the online course) but because our school did not have "enough space" for her in the next level class. One would think that now it would be very easy for her to pass this class and even get an A, but one would be wrong. The teacher does not teach anything and makes tests ridiculously hard. Every student in the school hates him. Half of the class dropped after a week. However, it was impossible for my sister to drop as she could take no other class. Now, after much studying and a year of her life wasted, she is facing the possibility of her chances being ruined by this. I am not sure what to do. Any advice?

First of all, no school district can force a student to retake a course if they have successfully passed it. As long as he or she shows proficiency, retaking is out of the question.

I would suggest taking this up with the principal, and if needed, take it higher. There has to be some alternative. Maybe your sister could take a math class online during school hours. Maybe she could take it at a nearby college.

Just DON’T let them make your sister repeat a class.

According to me, that’s a waste of a year.

Hope this helped.

It’s actually a waste of 2 years and a summer. They shouldn’t make her repeat the class, not if she took it during the summer and especially not because she’s failing a class she already passed. Have your parents call the school and dispute this. They wasted an entire year of your sister’s education and now she’ll be behind

Moose97 and katastrophic thank you for your help.
Unfortunately, she already took the class and they are not forcing her to repeat it next year. The main thing we are worried about now is that the colleges will look at the grade and they will see a D. Yes, maybe they will still see the online course grade, but the C or D will add doubt to the A she earned online. However, the problem is not that she does not know the material, but that she was graded unjustly, in my opinion. We already talked to the principal and sadly he offered no solution to this problem. Should we talk to the district about this as the school offered no help?
