Ok folks, I did horrendous on my writing section of my PSAT. By bad I do not mean by CC standards either, just by looking at my scores it would seem as if I don't even speak English. What can I do to increase my score? I read a fair amount, I'm in a pretty hardcore English class, I have the SAT online course as well as the blue book even though I don't use either of them. Is there anything else I could do to boost my scores?

read read read read. Dunno what to tell you, just read really fast for newspaper articles. Then slow down and pay attention to Henry Jame's wordy grammar usage in books like "the turn of the screw."

oh, i improved my writing score from 390 to 700 in two yrs. And a 25 ACT to 34. IT CAN BE DONE.

Get the College Board blue book. They have tons of examples...to give you hope, I first took the old SAT and scored a 680 V and 670 M.

After using the Blue Book and, as betterday said, READING READING READING, I scored a 770 V 670 M 780 W on the new test. While I do not have an old writing score to compare that to, I believe the verbal and writing scores are closely related, and you can tell using the Blue Book and being ready for the type of questions to expect really helped.

ok: seriously, WHAT IS THE BLUE BOOK?

:) i've seen it all over...is it the HUGE SAT college board book...because i think i have that book in my possession. :)

Yeah, it's thick and blue and says College Board SAT Prep Book or something on the front.
