How to dress for a reach school

Alumni interview at a local Panera. With Northwestern which is kinda a reach for me. Possibly majoring in business. Meeting is at 7, guy works in law, so I assume he might be dressed from work. Thanks

Dress in “business casual.” Slacks and collared shirt with no tie and shoes that will take a shine for a guy. Nice pants or skirt and a blouse for a girl. No jeans or T-shirts for either. Bring a notebook and pen and some copies of your resume or activities sheet if needed.

And most importantly: Have something to say.

This I find really important, just thought I’d add, if you are a guy, clean shave.

HAVE QUESTIONS. They’re going to ask if you have any questions at the end, and if you have nothing to say and it can get awkward really fast.

Don’t take the example of Legally Blonde. The producers thought the students at Harvard weren’t dressed “Harvard enough” so they hired extras to dress ultra-preppy (it’s disgusting).

Business casual is a good idea.

Dress NICE..hah I know that is the lamest answer, but a nice shirt/sweater..not a sweatshirt..an NICE pair of pants..not jeans..a NICE pair of shoes..not flipflops..
Look CLEAN and presentable.

Oh, if you are a girl, don’t overdo the makeup/jewelery and it does without saying, don’t wear anything remotely revealing..if you are a guy, don’t over do the cologne, hair gel, and whatnot.
Oh, and good luck!

Dangso I still won’t be able to wear my suit. I wore slacks and a shirt and tie to one already and that seemed to go over well, I just didn’t know if I should INTENITIONALLY over-do it a little to make an impression (since it’s a pretty big reach).
