Buy some cheap monday jeans and then go to American Apparel and get all your basics from there.

This man speaks the truth. If you have a little more bank, spring for Nudies, but APC is where it's at.

Wear clothes that make "you" feel good, and clothes that fit your body type well. You can get brand name clothes "Jcrew, LLBean..etc,) if you know how to shop. I've bought Jcrew polos and shorts for $20-30 on the internet, and even a Brooks Brother polo for $20 at an outlet store. You could even buy clothes from Target (they DO have some nice things), and no one will care.

if you really want to be a superficial label whore then maybe pick up a magazine or turn on the t.v. and turn the channel to MTV and look at the models and what they wear and buy what they wear...

so you could be cool

I'm no fasion consultant, but this is the best i've heard yet.

I laugh on the inside when i see people on campus wearing those colorful sweat shirts with annoying patterns on them, bright shoes, some crazy hair style as if they are some type of celebrity, and "stunna" sun glasses (in doors or when its dark).

Go for something clean that you'll feel confident in. It dosn't have to be the most expensive stuff of the year.

You can also get designer jeans from secondhand shops/ebay. My closet is filled with joe's, rock n republics, sevens, true religion, but i've only bought 3 pairs at retail... the rest were from gifts, ebay, secondhand shops. i just got a pair of true religions that fit like magic for 40 bucks at a secondhand shop. you just have to shop around and make a little effort for designer things.

but... i really love the gap. you can never go wrong there. everything is so classic, simple, clean cut. and plus they don't have logos embedded on everything (cough, abercrombie, cough, hollister). also stay away from abercrombie and hollsiter as much as you can... and never wear anything that says "abercrombie" or "hollister". I find that very high school/junior high. but i mean abercrombie has some nice shirts and -i love their miniskirts- sweaters, but yeah, stay away from the logo stuff.

ok sorry this is coming from a girl...

but for guys, i love the puma shoes, nice argyle sweaters, cotton white shirt underneath, dark denim jeans...

Nordstrom Men's Half Yearly Sale starts December 26th. See ya there. Head over to Men's Sportswear or The Rail, just be careful not to get anything for old men, emo kids, or metros.

Spot on. That is exactly the type of fashion that I and everyone in this thread is talking about. You nailed it.

Straight girls think it's cute (and attractive) that many guys have no fashion sense whatsoever. I wouldn't change if I were you.

Hahaha I disagree with the above comment. Stop looking like crap.

what's with people bashing Abercrombie? It's not high school. Hollister is high school so stay away from Hollister. ANF's target demographic is college aged people and they have quality clothes. If you're on a budget you could try H&M which has good stuff for a cheaper price.

Abercrombie is not the worst thing ever, but the main beef people have with it is that on 99% of the items the logo/brand name is displayed prominently. This even looks stupid on designer clothes, so trashy mall-chic couture whose demographic seems to be "Every high-schooler that doesn't shop at Hot Topic" doesn't stand a chance. Worse than Uggs.

"Straight girls think it's cute (and attractive) that many guys have no fashion sense whatsoever. I wouldn't change if I were you."

REALLY?

Yes, women love men that have no fashion sense. That's why cavemen got so much ass back in the day. Women also love it when men don't shave, don't bathe, don't brush their teeth, and have no hygiene whatsoever. They find it "cute"!

i love well-dressed men. For some reason it gives a sense of financial stability/professionalism that girls love...

"ANF's target demographic is college aged people and they have quality clothes."

A&F has ridiculous advertising on their clothes. D&G is even worse. That, and it's really played out, and there isn't any variety to the brand.

I don't care what the target demographic is, but beach theme? Come on. That crap isn't sophisticated or fashionable at all. I'm not a snob or anything; I just really hate both Hollister and A&F. You can get better clothes for a less.

I actually somewhat agree. I like the occasional college football t-shirt. I don't like guys who look metro, but I like it when they seem to somewhat care how they look and I LOVE when they don't match as long as their clothes aren't stinky or wrinkled.

Everyone has to have their "I look like crap" days.

Buy a copy of GQ and see what the models are wearing.
Generally, wear darker wash jeans that fit well (i.e. no boxers showing!) and stay away from the usual frat boy gear (cargo shorts, flip-flops, trucker hats).

College guys don't usually dress well so don't worry. haha.

Actually I'd like to add, instead od looking at models in magazines, watch a soap opera. Those guys are hot and dress well.

Btw, I wasn't being sarcastic when I said many straight girls find guys with no fashion sense cute. This applies to guys who wear OK-looking clothes (either because they don't care or do but don't know what to do with themselves). Some guys just don't know how to look sharper. For example, if you look at the selections on this page (see link below), I know that "Cornflower," "Night," and "River Blue" are nicest-looking and would look much nicer on me than the rest. Guys with no fashion sense, however, can't really tell which ones are "nicer." Btw, I don't buy shirts from Eddie Bauer.

why does the Abercrombie store reek of cologne detectable from 20 feet outside the store? why is fast paced techno or emo music always blasting? why is there huge poster of some guy (in the men's section) from the waist up with no clothing?...I have nothing against the clothes
