I feel like Prineton’s model exam is alot easier than the actual exam. We took the mc from last years exam in class and it was so text heavy.

@Cookiesss I scored very poorly on both Princeton Review and Barron’s. If you feel as if you have a good general idea of patterns and history, I’m sure you will be fine.

@Gatortristan That is actually one of the reasons I found the AP exam easier than the practice tests from my study guides. Since the AP exam focuses so heavily on passages, it is very easy to make educated guesses. Most of the time, as long as your sense of history is solid, it is possible to infer the answer either directly from the text (literally just reading the passage to find the answer), inferring from context clues (the text may allude to something and give you a few hints that will help you remember and recognize the correct answer if your history is a little rusty), or the origination of the text (eg. If you recognize the text as something written in x region during y time frame, and the passage talks about the role of women, then you use the passage and what is given to draw on the information you know about the role of women in that region during that time frame). Even if you can’t recall anything, the passage really helps eliminate answer choices.

Unlike the SAT II which will ask you to know several specific dates and facts and emphasizes more rote memorization, AP world tests your general understanding of the topic and your ability to relate outside texts to what you’ve learned in class.

Do you know how many mc you got right on the actual exam? And ur scores on the frq?

OMG! The FRQs for this year were so easy!!! I’ve looked at every single past frq and they were stuff you had to think about. This year, everyone in my school, even the the kids who have d’s said that the frq was soooo easy! You could just look at it and you would think of the answer right away! I was surprised that the exam was sooo easy this year
This thread actually served as the fundamental for how I studied for my exam this year lol.
I agree the FRQ this year was super easy. M/C was easy also, albeit some questions were a bit tricky. Was anyone else surprised by the organization of the questions? I expected it to go from questions regarding Period 1 all the way to questions regarding Period 6. Instead it went in order at first then started jumping around all over the place.
I agree with you. I had a huge problem with the multiple choice, it was sooo hard. I kept narrowing it down to two answers. Was it just me or did everyone in your room finish with 45 minutes left for FRQs?
You all are going about this all wrong, the best cram book and Oreo book to use all year is the Crash Course book, hands down. Also Getafive is the number one place to study for me.
This is a very old conversation but I hope one of yall can help me out. Basically when I read any type of history the information flies out of my head within seconds. It’s very scary as I can barley remember anything let alone patterns what to do guys suggest I do? (I don’t know other forms of memorization and what not).
Also OP how are you doing?
@Notjubjub145, the OP posted in 2012 so pretty safe bet that they are out of college now!
I suggest that you start a thread about ways of learning history, and give people some idea of what kinds of learning do come easily to you- you’ll get lots of suggestions!
