Okay, basically I'm screwed into this time frame, and yes, dinner must also be eaten in this period of time, as well. I'm a prospective Ross Student with weak, OOS stats for this school, and this will likely be my only visit to the school. What should I do to make the most of this time?

btw, time slot is about 6-8 on a sunday evening within the next couple of months.

Go walk around the Ross building - the Winter Garden, classrooms, library - then through the Law Quad, and to the Diag. Some cool / frequently-used buildings in the Diag are the Dana building, the Chem building, Angell Hall, and the Modern Languages building. Then walk past the construction of North Quad (which will open for Fall 2010) and find a place to eat on State street.

6-8PM on a summer Sunday; that’s a tough one.

Let’s assume that you won’t find any classrooms open. Also, the dorms are most likely going to be filled with summer campers, either for sports or tech camps. It may be worth a shot at walking into South Quad and seeing is they’ll let you look around, but realize your probably going to be surrounded by a few hundred sweaty basketball campers and the like.

My suggestion (access either Google Maps or the above referenced link):

Park in the garage on Maynard St.

Head East on Liberty toward State St. If you’re in a real hurry, grab a sandwich at Potbelly’s on the corner and eat it walking. Otherwise sit down at the Redhawk Grill a few doors down on State. It’s pretty fast as well.

After dinner go to Ben & Jerry’s and get and ice cream cone, (many Ann Arborites prefer Stucci’s Ice Cream, they are wrong), before starting your trip across the Diag. The Diag starts at the corner of North University and State and, surprisingly, runs diagonally across campus toward South University. Halfway through you’ll come to the main quad and the library. It may be open on Sunday night, may not. Pop in and look around.

Finish walking through the Diag until you come to South U. Window shop the student stores on South U. They pretty much end at Forest Street. So turn around and head down South U back toward State.

About 75 yards before you reach State Street, on the south side of South U, you’ll see and ivy covered archway, go through it and you’ll be in the law quad. Now, unless you’re in the law school, you’ll have no reason to go here except to make your parents ooh and aah.

Exit the west side of the law quad and you’ll be on State St. Madison St. should be dead ahead. Cross State onto Madison, immediately on your left will be the previously mentioned South Quad. Try and get in.

Leaving South Quad, cross Madison and head North, working your way between the buildings. If you’ve done this right, you’ll come upon the Spinning Cube. If you’ve watched any Michigan Football games on TV, you’ve seen this landmark, ESPN shows it incessantly.

Keep heading North and you’ll come to Maynard St. Follow Maynard and right after you cross William St, you’ll be back at the parking garage where you started.

Obviously if you had more time, people could recommend restaurants and other things to see. UM/Ann Arbor is also a completely different place when school’s in session, try and come back.

Hope this helps.

P.S. With you being from Ohio, for God sakes don’t wear Silver and Red.

Thank you guys so much for the advice. This is truly a lifesaver! I hope I can convince my parents to like U of M, too, because they want me to go to Miami of Ohio, and I really don’t want to go there.

Trust me, though, I’m not a scarlet-and gray type of guy, and although I love my home state, I am not a fan of OSU. Thanks for the additional reminder, though.
