How To Enroll MIT

@MITer94 Thanks for the answers. Much Appreciated.

You should ask someone who has passed for the same situation, just to be sure.

@Mrduque I would like to thank you for the response, I have asked who have accepted, But always one answer (No specific steps) If you have any idea about requirement to Enroll at MIT in particular or any university at USA in generally, please keep me on touch .

@mos3ad111:
It appears you keep asking for advice for how you can get accepted to MIT.
There is an enormous amount of information answering that exact question.

  1. This CC forum is filled with lots of great advice (and some not so great advice). Some of it is written by people who work or have worked in the MIT admissions office.

  2. The MIT admission blogs, written by those who work in the MIT admissions office, provide great advice.

  3. The web is filled with input (just search for “How do I get accepted to MIT”)

I would focus on #2 above. Then spend a fair amount of time reading through past discussions on this CC forum. It should be easy to identify the contributors who know what they are talking about.

@mos3ad111 As @jpm50 said, you should be able to look this stuff up; it is not our job to spoonfeed information that can, in our day and age, be very easily looked up with a quick Google search (such as admission requirements for MIT).

Without resourcefulness, surviving MIT is extremely difficult. Just a heads up.

@MITer94 @jpm50 My problem is that I have no experience to can get the most short way and less time, regardless
the difficulty which in the most short way and time But the searching on Google as you said, There is an enormous amount of information, But I am searching for some one who have same situation or experience which could change to General steps which He thought that there was be easier if he knew it before.
As for my Situation, I am an international transfer student , want to apply at MIT for computer science and electrical engineering department , English is my second language, I am willing to start at the academic year 2017/2018
Thanks for the answers. Much Appreciated.

First of all, have you investigated whether your university is accredited? I can’t tell you what is the meaning of that but it definitely has a lot to do with US universities rather than international universities.

My situation is similar to yours. Nevertheless I’m going to apply as a freshman and i still have many doubts about the application process. Is MIT your only option? if it is, you and i know that it’s a looong shot but it’s worth trying B-)

There are some flaws in your grammar, I recommend you to review comparatives and superlatives since ‘more short’ is mistaken. I apologize for the presumption. Have a nice day

@Mrduque Actually I am from Alexandria University at Egypt , That is accredited International, As you have similar situation, What is the department which you want to be your major?, Where are you from?, How old are you? BTW I am also going to apply as a freshman, Sure that I have many doubts, Because I have started late , At my country they claim that the percentage of acceptance at MIT if you have prepare for it for three years is 3 % , so I just have 1 % or less, I just have one shot. For now MIT is only my option but I am searching for the universities which good at computer science and electrical engineering department as MIT but I am still searching.

I want to express my gratitude for your recommendation and for the comment on my flaws, I would like to apologize for my bad English proficiency but I am trying .

@mos3ad111 and @Mrduque:

See the snipit below from the MIT transfer student FAQ. Note the last sentence.

@mos3ad111 First of all I’m not a transfer student, i’ll just get my high school diploma in a couple of days and i will take next year for preparing myself and apply to MIT. I’m from colombia and i’m 17 by next year. I started late too so maximum efforts are necessary from this very moment. to sum up, most people in my country consider that only the richest and smartest people (something like 17 years old professional goverment hackers,cancer researchers and that kind of illusory things) can get into the best universities and it’s something that only happens in movies (most of them don’t even know what is MIT), so well your people have a kind of realistic insight at least

Actually, that 3% percent of acceptance it’s just a mere mathematical operation obtained by a rule of three where 4000 (total of applicants) is 100% and 150 (approximated number of accepted students per year).

You know what? forget about statistics and other people opinions. you will have the opportunity to try, the glory to pass or the honor to lose

P.D.: I know this is not like the academical response that you expected but anyway :)>-

@jpm50 Thank you on your interesting Much Appreciated. But what I have found that Whatever the university which I will transfer for will decide which year should I Enrollment according to what I have done at my university, but I am said that I am going to apply as a freshman because MIT in particular Not convinced with the system of other universities or their Curriculum.
@Mrduque you are completely right, BTW What is the department which you want to be your major?, In your country are you took the SAT at your high school? What about the TOEFL test that you must take (as your first language is Spanish)?

@mos3ad111 How do you know this?

I think there are a few ways in which the TOEFL requirement can be waived, for example, if you studied at an English-speaking school for some number of years, or scored well enough on SAT reading/writing, or can otherwise demonstrate English proficiency. However I still recommend that you take the TOEFL rather than the SAT or ACT.

@mos3ad111 I’m taking TOEFL next month so I will do my best and I’m doing new SAT bye first semester of next year and I’m planning to pursue an engineering career

@MITer94 I have found some information about this part on site of colleges admission and from an organization in my country which Specialized in helping to know how to study at USA, Actually I have decided whatever I will take SAT or ACT, I will take math and physics only, I am not going o take reading/writing test, But the problem I have no idea how to prepare for TOEFL, just reading and listening and trying to talk English or there are specific steps too?.

@Mrduque how are you going to do to prepare for TOEFL exam?, What about SAT?. Are you going to take the old SAT or new one and why?, you know engineering career contain many department, BTW you must prove that you are good at one of them or something like that.

@mos3ad111 if you take the SAT Reasoning test or the ACT, then you should do all sections (incl. reading or writing). Of course, you can take a math and a science subject test and not take the others. Note that the SAT is changing next year.

I don’t know either; I have never had to take it. You should be able to find practice questions and/or tests online, or at least look for prep materials.
