Do not expect it to be realistically doable for currently non-resident undergraduate students.

Means , Is it hard to get?

bump bump bump

It’s pretty hard to establish residency here, yes. And of course, they don’t want it to be easy for you… they want your money. Basically you need to be living here. Your taxes should go to California. Either your parents need to move here or you need to be independent. No big trips out of the country (I think being away for 6+ weeks total is bad). Need to have you ID/license here, possibly registered to vote, intent to stay, etc. It’s not supposed to be easy, and you’ll probably just end up paying OOS tuition. Read the link ucbalumnus gave you.

I am not independent. What should I do?

… as ucbalumnus said, it’s really hard to get residency. The idea is that you have to pay OOS tuition. Assuming you can’t get in-state tuition, figure out a plan now. Start saving up, look for scholarships, etc. Will you be able to afford school without residency? Gotta do your own research, we can’t tell you what to do.

You’re most likely not going to be able to in time (are you even a US citizen?); do what failure622 suggested and start thinking of other ways to save money.
Or you could go the fraudulent way and do what someone I know has done and marry someone in CA, pretty despicable if you ask me…

Realistically, you should expect that if you attend UC Berkely, you’ll pay non-resident tuition for four years.

I’m sure that’s not the answer you want, but that’s the harsh reality. Sorry.
