How to evaluate a college's grad/law/med school placement success?

Like many others, ds is deciding between several admission options-- some super selective, some much less so. He will most probably pursue either grad or law school. Snooping around the college sites has not given me much insight into how well various schools fare with grad or law school placement. I would like to know what percentage of those that apply to grad school are accepted and to what schools.

Does anyone know where this info can be found? I am particularly interested in WashU, NYU, American, Brandeis and Tulane-- but I bet other posters are interested in other schools as well, so if there is a general source--please post it here.

Recent thread on this in the pre-med forum:

See esp. post #3, concerning why, even when you find the statistics, they’re really not terribly useful.

Thanks… that post did bring up several points I hadn’t thought of (although I already suspected there would be huge problems comparing data school to school).

But we would like to find a way to compare say, law school admits from WashU to American. WashU is far more “selective” a school, but American is in a great location, has a really outstanding internship program and has offerred a lot of merit money… But, when DS graduates, will a degree from American’s School of Public Affairs have the value of a WashU degree in the law school (or grad school) admissions process?

My understanding for law school is that WAY more important than the undergrad school is the undergrad gpa and LSAT score. Law school admissions are pretty numbers driven.
So in this case, go where you get the best financial package and can get an excellent gpa. Minimizing debt is particularly important when graduate or professional school is in the picture.

Contact the career services office at the colleges your s is considering. Also Pre Law advisor(s) if they are not in the career services office. They should be able to provide you with more info. - possibly lots of detail on where students applied and where they were admitted.

Some deeper googling on the colleges’ sites might provide you with a table like this one from Stanford:
http://www.stanford.edu/group/SPLS/documents/AdmitRatesMay08.pdf

Thanks! That is exactly the sort of table I am looking for. I have no idea how to find in on colleges websites, various searches don’t seem to produce similar pages at other schools.
