How to evaluate my GPA..

Hey, I am not sure if my GPA is considered "good" or not. I see most high schools use a different system than mine. My UW GPA is a 93/100. and my W GPA is a 97ish. The highest W GPA in my class is a 105. The first decile is from 98-105 so I just missed it and I am stuck in my school's second decile (300 in senior class). I go to a very good public high school which sends a bunch of students to top schools.

So, how would you evaluate my GPA? I mean, I have a very rigorous courseload and have straight As except for 1 B freshman year but it still seems kind of low to the rest of my class for some reason. We do inflate our grades that is why people have over 100 if that matters.

Alright, so do I have a good enough GPA to get into my dream schools (Penn, Cornell mainly.. rest are a little bit lower in selectivity) If not, where should I be looking and how selective of a school based solely on GPA/class rank (one of the most important factor).

THANKS

Rank is the most important factor. For Penn, 94% were in the top 10% of their high school class with the vast majority of those being top 5%. Penn will be difficult. I'm not as familiar with Cornell.

88% of Cornell students were in the top 10% of their class.

Cornell Admissions states that only 40% of students were ranked. I hadn't realized so many schools didn't rank.

Hahah oh greatttt

NY: this would totally depend on your school....have people in the 2nd decile been admitted to Penn? Cornell? I think I've posted in response to you b4......NJ public/ competitive 10-20 to top 20 schools....no-one except URM accepted to either school below top 5%; others between 5-15% GT to Cornell; none to Penn....

totally depends on your school's history......

btw, GT means guaranteed transfer for the following year.....

Okay, what about withholding my rank and not sending it? Is that even possible? I've seen people suggest that before on CC..

When you go to a school which sends many applicants to the colleges you're applying to, even if your school doesn't rank, colleges figure out a rank for you.
