How to explain a gap year- commonapp

<p>The Common App has a box to check for applicants who have taken a gap year (I am now applying as a transfer, some time later). </p>

<p>For those who have done so, what did you include in your explanation? Is it simply a description of what you did during that time, or did you elaborate further, providing details as to why you did so, what you learned, how it has affected your college experience, etc.?</p>
