<p>Saw this question in the common app thread, but didn't get fully answered. So if you started a volunteering activity in the summer after you finished 11th grade, and you are still considered to be an 11th grader, not 12th, right? And if you continue the activity in 12th grade, would you check both 11 and 12th grade and also summer AND school year for that activity? That's how I would interpret it, but it sounds kind of cheap, because the activity has really only been going on for those few months of summer and the beginning of 12th grade.</p>

<p>Nope, just 12th. The day you finish 11th grade, you are a 12th grader, just like when you graduate high school you are no longer a 12th grader. If you participated in the summer and the school year, just check the appropriate boxes.</p>
