How to find appropriate safeties?

<p>I'm a rising senior and I have come up with a list of colleges to apply to. I have the standard reaches:HYPS, few other Ivies, Uchicago, Gtown, Nwestern. However, I don't know if my safeties are really safeties. And I don't want to be looking at either Harvard or my state school. I want to have options in the middle.</p>

GPA - Weighted: 4.46
Class Rank: top 5 students
Class Size: 400
Toughest schedule</p>

<p>Scores:</p>

<p>SAT I Math: 740
SAT I Critical Reading: 730
SAT I Writing: 800
Will retake SAT
ACT: 35
SAT II Biology - E: 800
SAT II Math IIC: 800</p>

<p>My safeties are Rutgers(in-state), NYU(Arts and Sciences), UMich(Arts and Sciences). I plan on majoring in economics/philosophy. I would appreciate it if you could provide more options for safeties preferably in the NE. Thanks!</p>

<p>For these majors, I’d suggest taking a look at some LACs in NY.</p>

<p>NYU is selective enough that it’s difficult to consider a safety, but honestly, I would be very surprised if you didn’t get in. Same goes for Michigan, although Michigan is probably a more sure bet than NYU. And Rutgers is a safety for you.</p>
