How to find information for summer college internships and study

Yeah that. I keep hearing about people taking summer college courses and doiong internships and I'm wondering why the hell my counselor didn't mention this to me.

Can someone give me some information about this, especially things related to the science/medicine field or at Texas colleges since that's where I live.

Go to the parents forum, there are always discussions about summer programs

Thanks, anywhere else.

Hi! Here is a link to information about summer internships in Biomedical Research just for high school students, including an online application
http://www.training.nih.gov/student/internship/internship.asp

Also, I found think link to a quite good selection of summer internships in the bilological/natural sciences at colleges, zoos, botanical gardens, hospitals, laboratories, etc:

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I wish I could hug you.

So all of that stuff is available for high school students, some of it sounds pretty intense, nanobiotechnological research.

Elbereth! thank you so much! I've been looking everywhere for biomedical internships! this is perfect! many, many thanks

How do we know which ones are suitable for high schoolers?

Haha...thanks! <hugs> I'm sure someone w/ the sn "Texasmathwhiz" could handle nanobiotechnological research. Keep in mind that you won't be doing these completely on you own, but under the tutelage of a knowledgable professor, or maybe in groups of h.s. students working together.</hugs>

All of the summer internships are meant for high school students--in fact on the second site it says in big, bold, blue lettering "For High School Students" lol.

Some of the internships located in the Lone Star state include:
*http://www.mdanderson.org/cancer_pro/pro_education/display.cfm?id=e26d75e9-70b6-483e-9b3aa3c11f8123c8&method=displayfull
*http://www.sciencenhs.org/

Good luck finding one you like. Some of these look really facinating--I wish I had done these as a high schooler, not only b/c it would give me an edge in admissions, but also for hands-on experience.

Oh, by the way, if you are seriously interested in any of the summer internships for h.s. students, I STRONGLY advise you to apply ASAP since the deadlines for many of these are coming up soon. Also, it's a good idea to ask for a recommendation from a science teacher.

Did you find any you were interested in?

Yeah, I liked most of them. I also found one at UT Southwestern but unfortunately it's only in January so I'll have to wait a year.

Elbereth, thanks for the info. I too, have been looking for interniships or summer programs, but haven't had much luck.
