How to find out which dorm you got

Rissa, you’re in my old room. Awesome! :D

My word of advice to you: there is a piano directly under your room in the hall downstairs, and there are bunches of these intense kids that aren’t even music majors who will want to stumble in at 2 AM and start up a Beethoven symphony. You’re allowed to make a sign that says NO PLAYING AFTER QUIET HOURS and post it on the piano - we did so and it helped cut the noise when we were trying to sleep or study.

ah, how sweet I got a prime quad in mudge

I actually don’t know who those girls are or how I got so lucky.

If you are in A311 that’s my old room! It’s the better of the two quads on A3 because it has a walk-in closet. The other quad on the floor doesn’t, but it’s still awesome and identical in every other way.

DS is in Donner 004 but there’s no room with that # on the floor plan??
He’s also in MCS so I’m assuming that’s close to his classes…

It most likely means your S in on A level, also known as the dungeon. My S was in Donner A level his Freshman year. That side is cut off on the floor plan. I have attached the link. A4 is across from A3.

I got donner groud floor too! Damn
bosssr, dungeon does not sound so good does it? But how bad

It’s actually not bad. Called dungeon because you go down from entry level. My S met some great guys, had a blast and last year and upcoming year did group housing with them.

If you rent the movie Smart People, which was filmed at CMU, the son’s dorm in the movie is in the dungeon.

It looks like its on the first level since there are 4 floors , starting with Level A! Are the even numbered rooms facing the campus or the back/street? Thanks for the info!

Boss House Prime Double.

…I WANTED MUDGE. T___T

Even numbers face the street. As I remember there are small windows near the ceiling.

morewood e-tower 509
i think it was either my first or second choice… i forgot lol

Hamerschlag. I’ve heard it’s horrible. Aside from the fact that it’s all male, what’s so bad about it?

Just that its all male. Scobell I heard is worse.

Can anyone tell me exactly what furniture is available at Stever? There is an RA on Facebook who says there is one loftbed for each room, as well as hutches and storage pieces generally available, but we know a freshman who says she called the dorm and was told there are only a very limited number of such things, available on a first-come basis on move-in day. Anyone know for sure?

I was also reading that thread-- and the video on the CMU webpage shows Stever as really tiny-- it’s doubtful that four dressers are added…perhaps the low one that is meant for linens is placed under the bed? If you read Amy’s admissions blog the picture she shows of a stever room doesn’t show dressers either…I got the impression that the students replying were talking about rooms in general…but I also see that video of the room…doesn’t show any dressers…weird?

If you called and they said you can order more… that seems more realistic for a stever room…Here’s a tip…

If you want more furniture…put in a housing maintenance request end of July for the room number.
[Housing Services Maintenance Requests](http://www.housing.cmu.edu/maint/)

That will get you the bookcase – which is really a two shelf hutch that goes on top of the desk and also any dressers.

The closet is alot nicer than the shared dank dirty one in some of the dorms…these are clean and your student has his/her own closet in stever-- with room on top for the luggage or added storage.

Thanks a lot.

I’m in the new apartments and I was just wondering, is there a microwave included with our kitchen or do we bring our own? And is there a stove or just a kitchenette?

I’m also in Donner. 3rd floor though. Would anyone care to describe the rooms in more detail?
