How to find your passion?

I’m starting sophomore year in 2 days and feel totally lost. I played varsity volleyball, varsity soccer, and varsity lacrosse last year but was so stressed out that I quit them all. I guess now I know team sports aren’t for me. Honestly the only plan I have for EC’s next year is track and field in the spring and training after school up until then. I feel like all I’m going to do is study, which is obviously not the best choice. (I get all A’s in all honors/AP classes, but work really hard)

I’m the kind of person who is more successful when I’m busy and plan ahead. I feel so confused because I can’t figure out what I enjoy doing! Could you please suggest all of the EC’s you could think of and/or let me know how you found out what you are passionate about?

I don’t think you should conclude that team sports aren’t for you based on the stress you felt when attempting three varsity sports at once! I don’t know anything about sports, but that sounds like a lot. You would probably be happier if you chose one sport and focused on that.

You seem to imagine yourself as destined for certain things and not others, but that’s not accurate. With maybe a few exceptions, your future is wide open and you can become good at anything you choose to work on. In two years you’ll need to choose a college, and a year or so after that you’ll need to choose a major, but there’s no point in life where you need to have everything figured out.

What are some subjects or activities that interest you? What classes have been most interesting? If you didn’t have to do anything today, what would you do? (You don’t have to tell us; these are just some things to think about.)
