Hi everyone, I am an incoming freshman majored in EECS. I have been reading the EECS handbook and trying to plan out the courses i am going to take in the next 4 years, since I heard during CALDAY that a lot ud courses are project courses and taking 2 in 1 semester would be devastating. anyway, here is my question: EECS requires 45 units of engineering course, 30 units of math and science and 30 units of humanity, so the sum would be 105 units total, but the problem is that it says: "A minimum of 120 semester units." anyone has any suggestions what should i take for the rest 15 units?

I don't know what the College of Engineering might add as requirements, but the UC system requires these classes:

Entry Level Writing
American History
American Institutions

There are ways to waive these, which you will learn at CalSO or before if you read your way through the CoE and campus web sites.

In addition, UCB requires one course in American Culture which is not waivable.

CoE may have other requirements. A quick scan of their web site shows that they ask for a minimum of 6 courses in humanities and social sciences of 3 or more units. One of these can be used to satisfy the American Cultures requirement of UCB. While you can use AP results to waive up to 2 of these courses, you are left with a bare minimum of 4 courses assuming you waive everything you can - those 12 units minimum would get you up to 113 -- and if you pick 4 unit courses for those four classes, you are over the minimum of 120 units for your degree.

Dont worry about not having enough units :)
