Ok so i dont understand how some of my friends are getting 1900s and 2200s on their SATs and they tell me they barely study. Its kind of annoying and i really want to get that high of a score. The first time i took it i got a 1540! Yes thats bad but can someone help me by giving me tips on studyig. I have 3 months before i take the sats for the last time in oct! Im starting studying everyday for 2 hours and a half sometimes 3. Im the kind of person that is booksmart. Not born brilliant. Any tips?

If possible can I know what you’re score breakdown is?

470 reading
560 math
510 writing

Okay I can give you tips on moving from 1500 to the 1900s, but after the 1900s you probably need advice from someone else. When I first took my SAT practice in freshmen year with no studying I got a 1550. I think we are in the same grade level, I going to be a senior and I have a 1940 (760 M, 650 W, 530 CR).
Get yourself the CB Blue book, you can get it online for under $15.

For Math, practice doing problems in the first few practice tests and go over your answers carefully. If you have further questions, post it on collegeconfidential.

For Writing, You can check out Sparknotes and look at the SAT Writing guide there, or you can also go to youtube and I believe they have grammar lessons on their. Both sources are free. After you learn the grammar rules, if you practice the writing sections in the Blue Book you’re writing should be in the mid 650s.

For the Critical Reading (as you can tell from my score, even I struggle with this) I recommend you to start memorizing vocab from the Direct Hits book which is about $20 on amazon (I’m doing this also). Then for the passages, to be frank, this section is by the most difficult section to bring up. I recommend you to read Critical Reading guides on collegeconfidential and then to pick up a novel or look at the nytimes and read their books. The point of outside reading to work on reading speed and getting yourself familiar with reading in general.

If you run out of tests, I know somewhere on collegeconfidential there are free additional practice tests you can use to practice with.

Have a great summer studying!

Thanks! I ordered the barrons book yesterday online im not sure if that helps, and i studied lots of vocab. Hopefully i can reach my goal!

@thewildone which Barrons book did you order?
The barrons 2400 or which one?

@Thewildone The Barron’s book is okay for the math and writing questions, the Barron’s book is not very good for critical reading though because the critical reading is supposedly the hardest section to reproduce so with CR it is best to practice with the most exact source, the CB blue book. If you’re talking about the Barron’s 2400, that book is good for learning strategies and the writing section I heard is pretty good in it.
I have the Barron’s SAT general book too.

Barrons book 25th edition.

^I have the same one^
