how to get a 10+ on the sat essay?

I average 8's on the SAT essay and I'm hoping to get at least 10's.
Is it true that you get a higher essay score if you write more? Is it also true that using a personal example instead of literature, etc gives you a higher essay score?

The first one seems to be true although CB denies it. Not sure about the second one though.

Yeah, I think MIT did a study where if you guessed the score of an essay based upon the number of words written, 90% of the time you’d be right. So just by righting more words than anyone else you have a 90% shot at a 12. The trick is getting that done in the 25 min they give you.
