hey what do you guys think is the formula for getting a 5 on the biology test

is it study in class the school year + memorize cliff notes book = 5 on ap test

Also i heard countless numer of times that cliffs is sufficient but is there anyother book out there whcih can give you a summary better than cliff what about pr, barrons, or etc.

Say is i was to maybe not memorize but retain all the cliffs info in my mind would that be able enough to answer every question (maybe not perfectly) on the test or to get me a 5 enough to get e 5.

I'm gettign worried becasue last year i saw all theses really smart kids in my school get 4's and 3's on the test when they were gettting like A's in class

calling all people who got a 5 on the ap exam tell what your secret was and how you got it please!!!!!!

well, i got all a's in bio, and i was super knowledgeable about every detail pertaining to ap bio. i knew every little detail about cell respiration, photosynthesis etc. then i forgot everything, and studied by reading the princeton review the weekend before. i got a 4 (not as good as i had hoped) basically, i wouldnt go into to much detail when reading the chapters etc. that is the case with all ap exams. dont worry about the detail. just know the broader larger things. if i could have changed anything, i guess i would have reviewed earlier. maybe taken a practice test or two. basically dont stress. all you need to do is some solid prep before the exam. i read the P review, and that was enough to get me a 4. i didnt really get anything out of the class. (my teach wasnt all to great but he was a nice guy) i should mention that i was a sophmore when i took it. i dont think it made a diff that i was a soph, except that i didnt do as much prep as im doing for other tests like the sat now.

bascially study. p review is perfect if you remember everything from it. if you study early, you will remember. good luck!

lol, i guess this is what happened to me:
Basically I got an A- in the class, did the work and paid attention in class through listening, we were suppose to read the textbook before each test but I rarely got to that (still managed to remember stuff said in class, etc), and basically did overall well in the class. As for the ap exam, I started studying 3 days before the AP Exam started, from Cliff Notes Biology, read the entire book and did the questions after each reading section, all in 3 days (couldn't get to the actual practice test in the back though). Then I took the test and got a 5. =) By the way, my major is Biology and it has ALWAYS been my easiest and most favorite subject, so I had no problem reading and reviewing at the same time becuase it always fascinates me. Just to add in, the AP test is nothing like the SAT II, SAT II is much more specific and in my opinion way harder, I had to actually read the whole book again the day before my SAT II in order to get a high score. I got a 780 in the end. Hopefully that helps, remember different things work for different people, I've always been good at cramming and memorizing, especially when its with my favorite subject and I've already paid attention in class and understood what was going on.

edit: ps, its just AP Biology (no need for US..haha)

AP Chinese Chemistry is the easiest. You get a 6 if you can discover a new element during the test.

Ok the AP Biology test really isn't that bad. I bet all/most the test prep books will do just fine. I used Barron's, read the whole thing during a weekend while watching TV, and got a 5. My teacher from last year told us to focus on the essays, which is basically memory dumping ... aka, fill up all the blank spaces even if you repeat yourself 29 times. Yeah and like other people said, SAT II Biology is harder (score-wise).

that doesn't make sense that the SAT II bio is harder...
usually aren't AP tests harder because those are the ones that test your performance in college, while the SATs are the ones that you take to get into college?
Idk... I hear like US history AP is much harder than SAT II

the questions might be harder in AP tests, but its much easier to get a 5 than to get a 750+.

my ap bio teacher told me that i should read the campbell bio book at least twice to get a 5 on the test.
but i just studied kaplan since 3 weeks before the test, and on the last week i changed to PR since i ran out of time.
i got a 5.

just buy a comprehensive prep book and study it. dont just read and understand it, memorize it. it might not help for the class but it will help for the ap test
