How to get a mentorship?

Hi, can anyone tell me how would one go about getting a mentorship under a professor at Stanford? I'm in HS and I I think I'm gravitating towards the science field, so I want to see activities and life in a lab, and determine whether I really like it or not.
For everyone that did research in a lab when they were in HS, how did you get that position?
Thank you all!

Go to the school and start knocking on some doors. Look up the professors you want to work under and then go personally. Find out when they have office hours and then drop in. If you have a resume of your science background, that would be helpful and bring it in.

In my S’s highschool they made all the kids create a resume. Of course, since you’re all so young it consisted of things like, science olympiad, science camps, and any other science competitions one may have competed in.

My S was in 10th grade when he had to start searching for a mentor so his resume included things going back to grade school. Plus eco trips that we took as a family etc. Just about anything we could think of that related back to science.

Good Luck

You can also apply to the SIMR program at Stanford. I think the deadline is very very soon though.
