How to get a recommendation letter from a professor in a foreign country?

Hello folks,

Here goes my problem: One of the professor's from whom I want to ask a recommendation letter is currently living in Britain. I want to send him an envelope with the recommendations form in it and then I want him to be able to mail it to an university in Los Angeles without paying anything. I was thinking of an already-addressed envelope ( I guess that's the standard way of these things happening ), however I need it to happen quicker than that, because there is only 1 month left to the deadline.

So, what's the answer? I asked DHL and they said they don't provide a service like that. I'm a bit stuck and I would appreciate any kind of advice,

Thank you.

Try Fedex. You should be able to send your letter to your prof along with the recommendation form, an envelope for him to seal it in, and a pre-paid Fedex mailer (addressed to the college) all packaged inside another Fedex mailer addressed to the prof.

You can also try the Post Office. Back in the last century, they used to sell “international reply coupons” which were usable in most countries to cover the postage for a standard-sized letter. I don’t know if this is still available, but they may have a new service that will resolve your problem.
