How to get acceptance letter that lists specific major?

We got dd’s admission notification this week but it simply indicates that she was accepted into the college of engineering. In order to take advantage of a local scholarship we need to get a letter that lists the specific major she was admitted into.

I assumed it would be quick and easy to call the admissions office and ask for one, but dd was transferred from person to person (she spoke with folks both in admission and in the college of engineering) and was told repeatedly that they can’t do those sorts of individual letters.

Should I try speaking with the Honors College for help? Any other ideas for specific admissions or engineering contacts?

I doubt the HC can do anything. It’s out of their area.

who did you talk to in eng’g?

Try:

^^ Thank you for the suggestion. I will try that on Monday. I called admissions and the honors college myself this afternoon. I was hoping maybe the admission folks just misunderstood what my daughter was wanting, but they didn’t. I was also told that individual letters which list their major was not available.

Does her MyBama account list her major? If so, would a printout of that suffice?

Good thinking Beth’s mom! The summary of the application lists the major and so does the Honor’s application.

Yes, the application status page lists the major and college applied to. I’d think to print that out along with the admissions letter would do the trick, and certainly be better than nothing. Good luck and Roll Tide.

Thanks to all those who chimed in with advice. Unfortunately printouts were not going to suffice, it had to be a letter. The engineering department folks were able to have the head of the department do an individual letter for my daughter and it arrived today, yay! I appreciate the way these folks seem willing to go above and beyond for our kids. Dh and I met at a large state flagship and we had a very different experience, so I’ve been somewhat hesitant, but UA really seems to be more student focused than our alma mater. Now we can submit our enrollment deposit. RTR!
