I'm taking the SAT II Lit and am having immense difficulties with the poems on the test. Most of the test consists of poetry, so I am basically screwed. Sometimes, I don't even understand the poem's topic, much less interpret it correctly. I especially dislike old poems from the 1600s.

Anyone who is good at these kind of things, help me!
I am totally dreading the SAT II Lit.

I don't think there's much you can do, except practice. I think talking through the poems with someone, instead of simply reading the answers in the book, would be most helpful. Do you have a teacher who would be willing to take time to help you (probably not right now, in the summer, I realize...but presumably you won't be taking the test until October), or a parent or friend who is good with poetry?
I'm sorry I don't really know any better advice. Good luck, though!

oh now that you mention it, i am actually discussing poems with someone, but it's only AFTER discussing that i understand that one poem. I don't think I'd be able to do it by myself, which is unfortunate.
hopefully practice makes perfect...

thanks for your advice!
