I have crazy sensitive skin (I was super stressed for the last two days and I got 3 new pimples; I had clear skin before my plane ride and after 17 hours of being in the air, why whole face had acne) and I was wondering if you guys recommend any products.
I have a serious skin disorder called acne conglobata, and I am currently on accutane and applying Vaseline to my spots. I do recommend using Vaseline to assist controlling the pimples. Avenno Lotion is also the best in terms of sensitive skin, and if you do not use Dove soap, I recommend switching to that. If your acne keeps getting worse, I recommend seeing your doctor because it could turn into something worse later on. I had extremely clean skin before this happened to me. Most pimples are usually harmless and will go away in time unless you have cystic or conglobata acne.
Have a good day and good luck.
I bought my son this face wash called Humane on Amazon. I was going to buy Proactive or X-out but the reviews for humane were really good so I bought it and he’s been using it for about nine months with really good results; he uses it twice a day
This is a bit unconventional, but try using toothpaste. Cover the pimples with a thin layer and let it sit for a few hours/overnight, and by morning the swelling will have gone down. A couple days of this and they should be pretty much gone.
If you’ve already done this forgive me, but try eliminating sugar and dairy from your diet as much as possible.
If you can, go see a dermatologist. I thought my D only had a few pimples here and there, but took her after an outbreak during finals week. The difference is amazing. Now that her face is perfectly clear, I realize in retrospect just how broken out she had been.
I use 2% benzoyl peroxide gel. I’ve had acne problems for years despite washing my face with exfoliators and such, but my acne has pretty much cleared up since I started using it, although I’m under a lot less stress than during the school year. FYI, you do need to buy lotion with SPF capability if you want to apply it during the day, as it makes your skin sensitive to the sun. There are non-greasy brands you can buy. Also, if it mixes with water, it can bleach cloth, so make sure you wash it off well before using towels/washcloths (or use white washcloths).
Dermatologist is the best if you can afford one. Try to avoid home remedies… They can sometimes make things worse. Always clean your face, try to eat healthy, etc. It sounds like stress is a major factor so try out relaxing methods (stress balls? Drawing? Something…)
Another vote for a dermatologist. They can give you treatments that will really work. This might even save you money in the long term.
One of my kids went from a few pimples to much more serious acne within a very short time. I wish I hadn’t waited to take her to the dermatologist because she needed to take an antibiotic for a few months to get it under control. If I had acted more quickly, that could have been avoided and the topical ointments alone may have been enough.
EradiKate from Sephora worked wonders for me.
acne.org is a good resource. The products (optional) sold on the website are excellent and reasonably priced. The method advocated by the site can be achieved with common over the counter products.
Consider getting a facial that is specifically geared for acne plagued skin. Sometimes estheticians work in dermatologist offices and the treatment is covered by insurance. Receiving facials on a regular basis did far more for my skin than straight dermatology ever did.
Ditto benzoyl peroxide mentioned above. You should be able to find Johnson & Johnson Persa-Gel 10% solution water based gel at any drug store, and it’s cheap.
