So I was going to the first orientation, doing the early arrival thing because I was going to stay with my grandparents and they were going to drive me up. Well, my grandfather has a temper and we got into a nasty argument at my graduation and let's just say he won't be driving me. I'm lucky I was able to change my flight from Burbank to LAX but now I have no clue how to get from LAX to UCLA. I don't know, the idea of a taxi at 7ish... single, young, female... kind of screams easy target and I wouldn't know how much cash to keep on me. Any suggestions on how I can get there? Major thanks!

There's this ---> http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=358133
Supershuttle ($15 ea way)
or Bus (cheap but 60 min - 90)

I've never actually used any of them so I'm not 100% sure about the times or prices or quality.

i am going orientation 1 too. i will probably see you then. are you going on the 8th or 9th?

basically, when you leave the airport building, like right outside there will be 2 shuttle services ($15 or so to UCLA). One of them is Primetime and the other is Super Shuttle. You do not need to make an appointment. Just walk right out and they will be there.

I would recommend supershuttle (the blue shuttle service) over primetime (red). I used primetime last time and it was really slow.

Also, if you want to save some money, and perhaps even some time try this new bus service, directly from LAX to UCLA. No stops. http://www.lawa.org/flyAway/ A friend of mine told me it is pretty nice and fast. I will be using this service to get to UCLA. See you at orientation.

Thanks you guys! I think I'll just stick with a shuttle, I was just scared I'd get there and be stuck or kidnapped or haha... I'm paranoid. I'm flying up on the 8th, flight arrives at like 7:15ish

The flyaway is good stuff. only #4 and very comfortable amenities in a nice bus. it should put teh supershuttle out of business! (runs from 5 am to 1 am)

supershuttle. seriously, i've used it all year from LAX to UCLA and back, and it's never been a problem. go online to their site and just reserve your place online. its 15$ each way but don't forget the tip!

btw, you can also call. it's not on my speed dial but it IS on my phone.

don't bother reserving online UNLESS you don't want to carry cash or a card. you don't need to reserve places going from the airport, only if you're going to the airport so they know when/where to pick you up.

when you get to UCLA, make sure you remember to book your shuttle back to LAX. they revamped the website so that it's nice and easy to book online, or you can just call the number and talk to a live person. booking online requires a card, whereas if you call, you just pay later.

thats silly that your grandpa would let some stupid argument get in the way of you getting to orientation.
