How to get in touch with a Pratt student?

I'd like to get a student's opinion on engineering at Duke. (If there's a better place for this, please let me know.)

Im not in engineering but I have a lot of friends who are. I can try to answer some questions if you want

@rusties: Do you know any? Are any recent alumni of your secondary school? I initially offer these options because Duke may have mandatory and/or statutory “student privacy” concerns with providing contact information.

@TopTier - Unfortunately I have no connections to any of the universities I’m applying to, so I’ve been doing my best to thoroughly research each school via the web.

Okay, call Undergraduate Admissions, explain to them that you’d like to have a conversation with a Pratt junior (at Duke long enough to be knowledgable) or two, and why (this is important). They will want to help, but (as I mentioned in #2) there could be legal and/or privacy constraints.

@TopTier Is my reason sufficient enough? I’d like to go beyond what the engineering site has to offer.

@rustles‌: Undergraduate Admissions, subject to laws and polices, will want to help. They understand that it’s smart to want to learn from, to ask questions of, and to discuss with a peer.

In the recent past, there was a method by which Duke admissions paired up a prospective student with a very recent alumnus to answer any questions and provide a student perspective on things. Not sure if that practice has been discontinued…I participated in it only one year, I think. I’m not a current student, but graduated from Pratt and would be happy to answer any questions.

Thank you for offering @bluedog.

@bluedog - Thank you!

@rustles: no problem, do you have specific questions? My “opinion on engineering at Duke” is almost universally positive, but am happy to provide my thoughts on a variety of topics to give you some context “beyond the website.”

PM’ed you so that it wouldn’t bump this board and prevent new ones from being seen.
