How to get into government careers

I'm a freshman in college at McGill university studying international development and minor in economics. i plan on going to law school since my parents and i both agree i need a grad degree (i like b-school but am bad in calculus and im bad at science so no med school). i really like law school tho i dont think i could handle actually practicing much law since its busy paper work and i wanna make a difference and of course be famous/make decent money.

how do people get into positions like deputy assistant to the President? is it mostly connections?

i think its dumb for me to get a masters in intl relations just because id rather diversify my majors and also id rather have a professional degree rather than something more vague

Of course! We all want to be famous!

If at this point you don’t understand the political game I’d make a real effort to start understanding it. It’s all connections and relationships. It’s about meeting as many people as possible and making good impressions. In other words, it’s not about spending time getting advice on a message board that’s like Yahoo! answers’ cousin.
